GOATWHORE released its new album, "Constricting Rage Of The Merciless", in North America on July 8 via Metal Blade Records. The CD was recorded with producer Erik Rutan at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida. This is GOATWHORE's fourth studio outing with Rutan at the helm, and to achieve an even more dark and powerful tone on this album, all drums, bass, and rhythm guitars were tracked to two-inch tape.
In a recent interview with Live High Five, Falgoust stated about "Constricting Rage Of The Merciless": "I'm really happy with the whole outcome of the release and with everyone's performance. Everything we did as a whole band. Everybody worked really hard and put their efforts and ideas together, and I really appreciate Erik Rutan. This is the fourth record with him jumping into the pot for us to do this with two-inch analog, which is unique in these days and times, too. It's very unique."
He continued: "Overall, GOATWHORE doesn't do anything drastically different throughout its career. It stays pretty close to the GOATWHORE line, you know? I mean, the best thing I can say is that we evolve and mature, sometimes immature, as a band. But everything sounds like GOATWHORE. And as we progress and go along, all of the influences and things that we've been about evolve into our own sound. I mean, it's really hard to be original these days, so you just approach everything the best you can, and all your influences come into places and they're there whether it's a conscious or a subconscious thing. We grew up with them, so they're instilled in you. All those things play a part when you're working on stuff. And through time, there is shift and change all the time. This is our sixth record, so things are going to change and happen.
"Some people are going to think our first record is better than this one, or some people might like the middle records better than the first or last records. So you can't please everybody, but we're not trying to; we're trying to please ourselves first and foremost."
GOATWHORE's "A Haunting Curse" and "Carving Out The Eyes Of God" were pressed on vinyl for the first time ever and were made available on April 1. "A Haunting Curse" has been printed in a double gatefold sleeve on clear gold vinyl. "Carving Out The Eyes Of God" is in a gatefold sleeve on clear vinyl.
